KISORO UGANDA: Grief and shock have engulfed residents of DC Trading Centre in Nyamushungwa Village, Nyarusiza Sub-county, Kisoro District, following the sudden death of a taxi collector who was found lifeless in his rented room on Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Ambrose Turihohabwe, a resident of Nyamwerembiko Village, Nyabushabe Parish, Kabale District.

According to eyewitnesses, Turihohabwe was discovered dead inside his rented house, with blood stains visible around his mouth and nose.

Emmanuel Munyakabera, the deceased's immediate supervisor, said Turihohabwe had worked as a taxi collector at DC Trading Centre for the past two months. Munyakabera explained that he met the deceased in Kampala and later offered him employment in Kisoro.

A workmate and eyewitness, Robert Byariyehe, described Turihohabwe as a calm and hardworking person who occasionally consumed alcohol but was never known for engaging in conflicts or quarrels.

Byariyehe revealed that on the previous day, Turihohabwe had complained of severe stomach pain. However, he appeared stable when they parted ways later in the evening.

He added that he immediately alerted neighbours and local leaders after making the discovery. Byariyehe also noted that the deceased rarely shared details about his personal life and only disclosed that he hailed from Kabale District.

The Vice Chairperson of DC Trading Centre, Herbert Maniriho, confirmed the incident and said local authorities were informed shortly after the body was discovered.

Maniriho stated that police were notified and promptly responded to the scene to commence investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death.

Police officers from Kisoro visited and documented the scene before transporting the body to Kisoro Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

By press time, police had not released an official statement regarding the cause of death. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
