KISORO UGANDA: Police in Kisoro District are investigating the death of a 47-year-old man who reportedly succumbed to injuries sustained during an alleged assault at a bar in Kisoro Municipality.
The deceased has been identified as Hategeka Eugene, a resident of Kisoro Main Village in Central Division.
According to police, the incident happened on April 26, 2026, at around 3:00am at Club Hills Bar, where Hategeka was allegedly assaulted by one Bahati and others following a misunderstanding inside the bar.
The bar manager, Niringiyimana Milla, reportedly rescued the victim and rushed him to Mutolere Hospital. He was later referred to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, where he died on the morning of April 29, 2026.
Kigezi Region Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate said the Officer in Charge of CID in Kisoro coordinated with CID officers in Mbarara, and a postmortem examination was conducted.
Police said suspects linked to the assault will be arrested and prosecuted once investigations are complete.
