One Dead in Fatal Road Crash Along Kabale–Kisoro Road in Rubanda

RUBANDA, UGANDA: Police in Rubanda District are investigating a fatal road crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist following a collision with a trailer along the Kabale–Kisoro Road.
The deceased has been identified as Muhereza Martin, 32, a resident of Muruhita Village, Hamurwa Sub-county in Rubanda District. He was riding a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UMA 129LN, when the accident occurred.
The crash happened at around 6:00pm at Mukyitenge Village in Hamurwa Sub-county along the Kabale–Kisoro Road, involving a white low-bed trailer, registration number UN 26013.
According to preliminary police findings, the motorcyclist was allegedly riding at high speed and failed to negotiate a sharp corner at Mukyitenge, subsequently ramming into the trailer. He reportedly died on the spot.
Traffic police responded to the scene, and the body of the deceased was conveyed to the mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Authorities have since cautioned all road users to exercise caution, observe speed limits, and adhere to highway traffic regulations to prevent similar incidents.
SP Nelson Tumushime, the police spokesperson for Kigezi Region, confirmed the incident and urged road users to remain vigilant while on the road.
“We continue to urge all road users to always be mindful of the speed limit and to always abide by the Highway Code. Have respect for other road users while on the road,” he said.
